Weekly poll: who is interested in the new Honor 100 and Honor 100 Pro?

by NEW YORK DIGITAL NEWS

Half a year after the 90 series, the Honor 100 and 100 Pro arrive with new cameras, better chipsets and faster charging, among other improvements. The duo was unveiled on Thursday and is already up for pre-order in China (the rest of the world will have to wait a bit longer).

Starting with the Honor 100 Pro, the company claims that it has two DSLR-level cameras – the 50MP Sony IMX906 on the back and the 50MP IMX816 on the front. Both can record 4K video, the rear module also includes OIS. And yes, the 200MP resolution of the 90-series has been dropped in favor of larger pixels.

The Pro model has a 32MP 2.5x telephoto camera with OIS and up to 50x digital zoom. It is joined by a 112° ultra wide module. You may have noticed that there is a second module on the front, that is there to help render more realistic bokeh as well as apply effects that need extra depth data.

The 100 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 (up from 8+ Gen 1 on the 90 Pro) and a 5,000mAh battery with 100W fast charging. This model now also has 66W fast wireless charging, which can go to 100% in 42 minutes. The Pro has a marginally larger 6.78” 120Hz OLED display, a curved panel with 1,224 x 2,700px resolution and 10-bit colors. It goes up to 2,600 nits of brightness and has 3,840Hz high frequency PWM dimming.

Weekly poll: who is interested in the new Honor 100 and Honor 100 Pro?

The vanilla Honor 100 gets the new Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 and it loses the tele camera compare to its sibling (the IMX906 main and the ultra wide cameras are the same). On the front is a 6.7” 120Hz display (1,200 x 2,664px), also a curved 10-bit panel. The 2,600 nits brightness is the same and is also implemented with 3,840Hz high frequency dimming. The 5,000mAh battery gets only the 100W wired charging, which goes fast enough to hit 100% in 32 minutes.

As we mentioned, the two phones are already on pre-order. The Honor 100 Pro starts at CNY 3,400 for the 12/256GB model, the Honor 100 at CNY 2,500 for the same 12/256GB configuration. However, we don’t know how much these two will cost on the global market.

The Honor 90 was the same price at launch, CNY 2,500, while the 90 Pro started at a slightly lower CNY 3,300 (this is for 12/256GB phones). When it reached Europe, the Honor 90 dropped the RAM capacity to 8GB and was priced €550. The Pro, however, never reached the Old Continent.

So the Honor 100 should cost the same as the 90, the 100 Pro may remain a pipe dream. Would you buy the Honor 100 once it becomes available near you?

How about the Honor 100 Pro – the company may change its mind and give this one a wide release. If it does, will you pick one up?
