Lower East Side: Twenty-Eight Remarkable Women and One Scoundrel

The Museum at Eldridge Street in New York City is presenting a new exhibition featuring works by artist Adrienne Ottenberg. The opening on Sunday, December 3, at 3 pm will feature an informal talk with the artist.

“On the Lower East Side: Twenty-Eight Remarkable Women and One Scoundrel” celebrates women who lived or worked in the Lower East Side’s immigrant neighborhood at the turn of the twentieth century. Portraits printed on silk or cotton banners float ethereally over a tableau of street maps depicting the places where these women worked and lived.
