Tyler Glasnow among Rays stars eliciting offers

by NEW YORK DIGITAL NEWS

The Rays are said to have at least four or five “serious” offers for ace pitcher Tyler Glasnow, whose $25M salary probably makes him too rich for them.

The Rays are also talking to teams about outfielders Randy Arozarena and Manuel Margot. The Mariners could be a fit there, as Jon Morosi of MLB Network pointed out.

Folks here believe Glasnow and White Sox star Dylan Cease will be traded this winter. The Orioles are trying for Cease and should have a good chance with their stash of outstanding prospects. Infielder Jordan Westburg makes sense as a key piece in a package. …

The Brewers are talking to teams about ace Corbin Burnes, who’s a year from free agency and likely unaffordable for them, but since they are a likely contender they will only trade him if they are blown away.

The Brewers reached a deal with veteran left-handed starter Wade Miley.

The Brewers are fielding offers on their plethora of outfielders since locking up top prospect Jackson Chourio, 19, for a record $82M guaranteed for a minor leaguer and targeting him for the big club.

It isn’t determined whether he will play center field or right but the expectation is he will be in Milwaukee’s Opening Day lineup. The deal is 64 percent higher than the previous record of $50M for a player who had yet to play in the bigs (Luis Robert). So the deal is not receiving the typical criticism you see in cases where uber-talented kids sign very early.

The Brewers have a long lineup of fine young outfielders, including Sal Frelick, Garrett Mitchell, Joey Wiemer, Tyrone Taylor and Blake Perkins. They like Frelick, Mitchell has superior skills but is coming off an injury year and Wiemer is a defensive standout. …

Six teams, including the Mets, are showing interest in CF Michael A. Taylor. …

The Orioles are in the market for back-end bullpen help. With the Maryland man Hader possibly too expensive for them, they are considering Kimbrel, Aroldis Chapman, Jordan Hicks and Robert Stephenson.

Hicks also is drawing interest from his hometown Astros, his former Cardinals team and the Rangers.
