Lake Placid’s 2026 Olympic Bid: Some Background

A proposal has recently been developed in coordination with the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC) to host the sliding events (bobsled, skeleton, luge) for the 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (February 6 – 22, 2026) in Lake Placid.

Lake Placid hosted the Winter Olympics in 1932 and 1980, is home of the U.S. Olympic Training Center, and has a state-of-the-art sliding center at Mt. Van Hoevenberg. Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo in Italy were selected as the host of the of the XXV Olympic Winter Games in June 2019.
