See Alanis Morissette Cover Wham!’s ‘Last Christmas’ on ‘Fallon’

Singer also talks Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame induction and upcomng Triple Moon tour on Tonight Show

With the holiday season in full swing, Alanis Morissette dropped by The Tonight Show to perform a cover of Wham!’s “Last Christmas.”

The George Michael-penned classic is among the seasonal tracks that feature on Morissette’s recently released Last Christmas EP, which also boasts a rendition of John Lennon’s “Happy Xmas (War Is Over)” alongside standards like “Little Drummer Boy” and “What Child Is This?”

“I have been obsessed with George Michael my entire life and had the pleasure of meeting him backstage at one of my shows. WHAM! was a favorite band when I was younger,” Morissette previously said of her cover (via Billboard). “George’s voice (velvet and dreamy) was super inspiring to me. Covering ‘Last Christmas’ is a way to mark the holiday time as well as bow down to George himself.”

The singer — one of Rolling Stone’s 50 Greatest Canadian Artists of All Time — also sat down with host Jimmy Fallon to discuss her recent induction into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame (where Olivia Rodrigo delivered her induction speech) as well as her upcoming Triple Moon tour, which finds Morissette, Joan Jett and Morgan Wade joining forces for a 2024 trek.
