This summer, the Vermont Historical Society installed “A Stitch in Time,” an ongoing exhibit examining the garments in their collections and comparing them to modern-day versions.
The latest rotation is about ski boots and features three ski boots that demonstrate how the footwear and ski technology changed over time.
The first pair, donated to by Ruth B. Hughes in 1961, is a leather woman’s boot dating to ca. 1900 – essentially a regular boot that was strapped onto skis.
