Judge Declines to Let City Hall Intervene in Transfer Tax Lawsuit

A Cook County judge on Friday declined to let Mayor Brandon Johnson’s administration intervene in a lawsuit filed by real estate trade groups against the Chicago Board of Elections in an effort to prevent voters from deciding on a property transfer tax referendum scheduled for next month’s election.

The judge was expected to make a more substantial ruling on the fate of the case Friday afternoon as well.
