State Police said that around noon on Monday, a Border Patrol agent and K9 found the men’s bodies during a routine search off Eddy Road in Mooers, in Clinton County, NY.

The area is located near the Hemmingford Road border crossing.

The K9 located a black backpack and a snow-covered mound which covered one of the victims, and found the second man nearby.

Autopsies performed by by Dr. Michael Sikirica at Glens Falls Hospital determined the men died of hypothermia and Clinton County Coroner Chad Deans ruled the deaths accidental.

There was no information provided about when the men died, although the case is still being investigated, State Police said.

In April of 2023, eight people drowned in the St. Lawrence River attempting to make the border crossing.
