Located adjacent to Lake Champlain, the Ausable River delta was formed over thousands of years and boasts streams and marshes teeming with wildlife, and is breeding ground for several species of fish, turtles, and frogs.

This bounty attracts many mammal species, like beavers, muskrats, and black bears. With the spring thaw, the marsh attracts thousands of migrating waterfowl, including the Osprey, a threatened species in New York State, Wood Duck, Hooded Mergansers, Mallards, and Great Blue Heron, among others.

Watch for Bald Eagles scouring the marsh headwater stream that holds many fish species, including brown bullhead, northern pike, largemouth bass, and Atlantic salmon.
