Study: Saratoga Battlefield Visitors Spent $8M in 2024; Nationally NPS Visitors Spent $29B

That spending had a cumulative benefit to the local economy of $10,383,000, according to the study.

“People come to Saratoga National Historical Park to enjoy and explore the historic landscapes where the pivotal Battles of Saratoga and the resulting first surrender of a British army took place and end up supporting the US and local economies along the way,” said Superintendent Leslie Morlock.

The National Park Service report, 2024 National Park Visitor Spending Effects, finds that visitors spent $29 billion in communities near national parks. This spending provided $18.8 billion in labor income and $56.3 in economic output to the U.S. economy.

The lodging sector had the highest direct contributions with $11.1 billion in economic output. Restaurants received the next greatest direct contributions with $5.7 billion in economic output.

In 2024, 18.7 million park visitors spent an estimated $877 million in local gateway regions while visiting National Park Service lands in New York. These expenditures supported a total of 6,910 jobs, $434 million in labor income, $771 million in value added, and $1.1 billion in economic output in the New York economy.

In 2024, 79.7 thousand park visitors spent an estimated $5.3 million in local gateway regions while visiting Fort Stanwix National Monument. These expenditures supported a total of 46 jobs, $2.1 million in labor income, $4.2 million in value added, and $6.5 million in economic output in local gateway economies surrounding Fort Stanwix National Monument.

In 2024, 124 thousand park visitors spent an estimated $8.7 million in local gateway regions while visiting Home Of Franklin D Roosevelt National Historic Site. These expenditures supported a total of 78 jobs, $4.2 million in labor income, $7.5 million in value added, and $11.6 million in economic output in local gateway economies surrounding Home Of Franklin D Roosevelt National Historic Site.

In 2024, 406 thousand park visitors spent an estimated $17.9 million in local gateway regions while visiting Vanderbilt Mansion National Historic Site. These expenditures supported a total of 160 jobs, $7.1 million in labor income, $13.9 million in value added, and $22.6 million in economic output in local gateway economies surrounding Vanderbilt Mansion National Historic Site.

In 2024, 2.3 million park visitors spent an estimated $162 million in local gateway regions while visiting Stonewall National Monument. These expenditures supported a total of 1,380 jobs, $90.2 million in labor income, $157 million in value added, and $231 million in economic output in local gateway economies surrounding Stonewall National Monument.

In 2024, 3.7 million park visitors spent an estimated $262 million in local gateway regions while visiting Statue Of Liberty National Monument. These expenditures supported a total of 2,220 jobs, $146 million in labor income, $253 million in value added, and $372 million in economic output in local gateway economies surrounding Statue Of Liberty National Monument.
