In a surprising development, Patna Pirates have parted ways with Head Coach Randeep Dalal days after the conclusion of Pro Kabaddi 2025. The Pirates finished seventh after the league stage and made the playoffs as well.
Notably, Randeep Dalal was appointed defense coach of the Patna Pirates after seven matches into the season. The Pirates had won just two games at that stage and were 10th on the table. Anup Kumar was the Head Coach of the team.
However, Randeep took over as Head Coach after nine matches. The Pirates had just two wins at that stage. He then guided the team from the bottom of the table to the playoffs.
Patna Pirates made the announcement with a post on their official X handle.
“From the bottom of the table to the heart of the fight! Thank you Coach Randeep Dalal, for believing when the world doubted. 💚🏴☠️We wish you best of luck in the future and hopefully our paths collide again!,” the tweet read.
The Pirates won five matches in a row under Randeep Dalal to qualify for the top eight. Moreover, they won three consecutive matches in the playoffs as well and made it to the third Eliminator. Unfortunately, their campaign came to an end as they lost to the Telugu Titans in the third Eliminator.
Nonetheless, it was a comeback for the ages, winning eight matches in a row. Despite a stellar turnaround, Randeep Dalal’s release after the season comes as shocking news.
Patna Pirates and their history of releasing coaches
Patna Pirates have had a history of releasing coaches who have done well for them in the past as well. They had previously released Ram Mehar Singh, who guided them to their third Pro Kabaddi title in Season 5 as Head Coach.
The Pirates played the final in Season 11 but lost to the Haryana Steelers. Post the season, they released Head Coach Narender Redhu, who took the team to the final. Narender Redhu was seen as the Head Coach of Jaipur Pink Panthers in Pro Kabaddi 2025.
Notably, Anup Kumar left the team midway, citing personal reasons. However, it is key to note that the Pirates also officially released Anup from his position as Head Coach after the end of Season 12.
