5 best cards in Pokemon TCG Pocket Paldean Wonders expansion, ranked

Pokemon TCG Pocket Paldean Wonders is the title’s latest entry. This mini set expands on the ongoing B2 series by introducing 131 new cards. Despite being a single-pack set under the B2a tag, it delivers a couple of competitively viable cards.

Several cards debuting from this set are from Generation IX and appear poised to influence deck construction in the upcoming meta. Some of these cards offer raw power, while others introduce subtle tactical advantages that reward careful planning.

Here are the five strongest cards in Pokemon TCG Pocket Paldean Wonders, ranked by impact and overall competitive value.

Skeledirge may not look overwhelming at first glance. Its attack, Heat Crash, deals a respectable 70 damage for two Energy, which is solid, but not game-breaking.

Skeledirge’s real value is its Ability, Passionate Voice. By discarding a Fire Energy once during your turn, all of your Fire-types in play gain +50 damage to the opponent’s Active Pokemon for that turn.

Most successive decks in the meta are Fire-types raising the bar for high damage numbers, and Skeledirge takes that even further. What makes it even more dangerous is with two Skeledirge in play, the bonus stacks, doubling the buff.

Meowscarada ex is less about brute strength and more about precision snipes. Its Flower Trick attack requires just one Grass Energy and targets any opposing Pokemon, Active or Benched, dealing 70 damage at the end of your opponent’s next turn. It disrupts setups and removes Basic Pokemon before they evolve.

Its second attack, Solar Beam, does a straightforward 80 damage for two Grass Energy which is fast and reliable.

Bellibolt ex’s card is a balance between bulk and scaling offense. With 160 HP, it can withstand meaningful pressure before going down.

High-Voltage Cannon does a decent 70 damage for two Lightning Energy. However, the attack becomes a lot more threatening if you have four or more Lightning Energy in play, boosting the damage to 140.

This makes Bellibolt ex both efficient and reliable, dishing out a solid amount of damage every turn.

2) Pawmot and Nemona

Pawmot is impressive on its own. For a non-ex Pokemon, its Thunder Blast deals 100 damage for just two Lightning Energy. Although the attack discards one Energy each time it’s used, the damage output keeps it competitively viable.

The benefit comes when Nemona enters the picture. When her Supporter card is played, she buffs Pawmot’s attacks by +80 damage against Active ex Pokemon for the turn. That pushes Thunder Blast to a staggering 180 damage which is enough to one-shot many ex cards.

1) Gholdengo ex

Gholdengo ex stands at the top due to its damage potential. With 150 HP, it offers decent survivability, but its true appeal lies in its Spending Rush.

For each Metal Energy attached, one of your opponent’s Pokemon is randomly selected, and 40 damage is dealt for each selection. As Energy stacks up, the damage also builds up.

In longer games, this attack can unpredictably spiral out, spreading massive damage across the opponent’s board or concentrating enough pressure to secure decisive knockouts. While the randomness is fun, making every battle a new experience, the damage scaling potential is undeniable.

Among all the cards introduced in Pokemon TCG Pocket Paldean Wonders, Gholdengo ex carries the highest upside, capable of dismantling entire setups when paired with the right support.
