Barcelona ease past Newcastle to reach UCL quarterfinals

Barcelona had too much strength for Premier League side Newcastle United as they booked their place in the last eight of this season’s UEFA Champions League. The Spanish giants claimed a 7-2 win at home, going through via a 8-3 aggregate scoreline over two legs.

Hansi Flick‘s side set the tone early, with Raphinha firing them into the lead after six minutes, but were quickly pegged back by Anthony Elanga. Lamine Yamal scored in first half stoppage time to ensure that his side went into the break with a slender advantage.

After the break, Fermin Lopez added his name to the score sheet before Robert Lewandowski scored twice in six minutes to put his side in a very comfortable position. Raphinha rounded off the scoring in the 72nd minute as Barcelona booked a meeting with Atletico Madrid in the next round.
