Andy Cohen’s vibrant West Village penthouse found a buyer, and it’s an Emmy Award-winning playwright. As first reported by the New York Post, actor and writer Danny Strong, known for his writing on “Empire” and “Dopesick” and roles in “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Mad Men,” bought the apartment at 2 Horatio Street with his partner Caitlin Mehner. The home, which is a combination of four units, first hit the market in September for $14 million and was relisted for $12 million earlier this year. The final sales price has not been made public yet.

Cohen gradually assembled the home over more than two decades in the historic prewar building developed by Bing & Bing. The Bravo TV personality first purchased a high-floor studio in 2003, followed by a two-bedroom on the same floor in 2010, and then a two-bedroom unit directly below in 2014.
In 2015, he bought the studio next door and completed a Jenga-like combination of the apartments to create one 3,500-square-foot trophy home, as 6sqft previously reported.

Cohen purchased a new penthouse just around the corner at 299 West 12th Street, a building designed by Emery Roth, for $18.21 million in 2022.
Funnily enough, Strong has lived at the West 12th Street building since 2011 and recently listed his own combination unit for sale. The two-bedroom, three-bath home, which overlooks Abingdon Square Park, entered contract recently after asking $6.49 million, according to the Post.
“Andy’s apartment is my dream home. We are so excited to be moving there,” Strong told the Post, adding that the couple needs more space for their family following the birth of their now 7-month-old daughter, Maisie.

The penthouse spans four bedrooms and four-and-a-half bathrooms, featuring two wood-burning fireplaces, a gold-tiled windowed bar, wide-plank oak floors, and 25 windows that flood nearly every inch of the space with natural light. The current layout includes three bedrooms and a nanny’s room, but it allows for the addition of one or more bedrooms.

Featuring interior design by Eric Hughes and architecture by Gordon Kahn, who renovated the duplex, the colorful home also includes an ensuite windowed office and den, expansive closet space, an open living and dining area, a window wall, beamed ceilings, built-in cabinetry, and a corner windowed chef’s kitchen with dual exposure cabinetry, walnut counters, and high-end appliances.

A glass, walnut, and steel staircase connects the two floors and leads to the home office, which boasts its own ensuite marble bath and a wall of custom bookshelves. The primary bedroom suite features a fireplace, a window wall with views of the Empire State and Chrysler Buildings, and a spacious walk-in closet and dressing room with custom millwork and three windows.

A corner spa-like bath featuring a teak tub and a walk-in marble steam shower complements the luxurious bedroom area, according to the Post.
Strong is also known for co-writing the two-part finale of the “Hunger Games” movies, “The Butler,” “Recount,” and appearing in “Gilmore Girls.” He’s also behind the upcoming Broadway revival of the Cold War-era musical “Chess,” featuring music by two members of ABBA, which debuts this fall.
Designed by Robert Lyons and developed by Bing & Bing in 1931, 2 Horatio Street is one of the most coveted addresses in the West Village. Overlooking Jackson Square Park, the building offers a 24-hour doorman, porters, a live-in superintendent, a laundry room, and a bicycle storage room.
