While exploring the Ocean in Abyss, you will occasionally come across a fish that is unlike its regular counterparts. Such fish types are mutated versions that offer a higher value multiplier than their normal variants. The game features an abundance of Mutations, each of which applies a unique visual and value alteration. As such, when exploring the deep blue sea, you may want to aim for the ones that stand out from the others to maximize your earnings.

- Abyssal: 8.5x Multiplier.
- Angelic: 7.77x Multiplier.
- Shadow: 6.66x Multiplier.
- Rooted: 4.2x Multiplier.
- Ultraviolet: 3.6x Multiplier.
- Neon: 2.8x Multiplier.
- Invisible: 2.4x Multiplier.
- Fairy: 2.3x Multiplier.
- Golden: 2x Multiplier.
- Negative: 2x Multiplier.
- Fossil: 1.75x Multiplier.
- Spirit: 1.7x Multiplier.
- Cactus: 1.45x Multiplier.
- Transparent: 1.35x Multiplier.

Most of these Mutations can occur anywhere, save for Sand, Cactus, Fossil, Spirit, Fairy, and Rooted. Sand, Cactus, and Fossil can be found in the Ancient Sands area, while the Spirit, Fairy, and Rooted Mutations occur in the Spirit Roots region.
The following Mutations are only available for a limited time, as they are tied to their respective events:
- Lonely: 2x Multiplier. (Exclusive to Valentine’s 2026 Event)

How Mutations work
Mutations are visual alterations that make certain fish stand out in their respective schools. The appearances of these fish change based on the Mutation applied to them. For instance, the Rock Mutation grants them a rock-like texture, while the Neon Mutation makes them glow. In addition to the visual change, the affected fish has its value multiplied as well.
Currently, there is no way to influence the spawn rate of Mutations. They always occur randomly, and if you’re hunting a specific Mutation, you may have to rely on its specific visual cues. This can be simplified to a degree by using the Radar, which highlights the name and Mutation of the targeted fish.
Be sure to aim for a mutated fish when farming money to make more Cash per fish sold.
