Less than a month after a penthouse in Asbury Park sold for $7.6 million, becoming the priciest condo ever sold in New Jersey, a newly listed apartment in the Jersey Shore city is already trying to break the record. Asking $8,999,999, the penthouse at the beachfront Asbury Ocean Club is a combination of two units, with six bedrooms and 2,600 square feet of rooftop space overlooking the ocean and boardwalk.

Penthouse A measures about 5,100 square feet, with an incredible amount of outdoor space. There’s both a terrace and a sprawling private rooftop space that offers views of the boardwalk, beach, and beyond.

Originally two separate units, the home was “meticulously reimagined by its current owners,” according to the listing, with “every detail of this bespoke design” intended to create an “atmosphere of refined elegance and ultimate comfort.”

Developed by iStar, which has been the main driver of redevelopment in Asbury Park over the last 20 years, the Asbury Ocean Club opened in 2019, marketed as a resort-like escape from New York City, which is just over an hour drive or a 90-minute NJ Transit trip.

Designed by Handel Architects and Anda Andrei Design, the 17-story development features 130 condos and a 54-room hotel on the fourth floor. Amenities include a heated pool, a sun deck with ocean views, a spa, fitness center, library, chef’s kitchen, screening room, a pet spa, and more.

In 2020, the building set a record for priciest home in Asbury Park when a four-bedroom unit sold for $5.9 million.

“Asbury Park is experiencing a significant surge in new construction developments, with major developers such as KHov, Toll Brothers, Pulte, and Somerset actively involved in more projects here than in any other city in New Jersey,” Adam Hignite, the Compass agent with the listing, said.

This past July, a penthouse sold for $7.6 million at Lido Asbury Park, an under-construction development next door to the Asbury Ocean Club and the iconic Wonder Bar. The deal marked the priciest condominium ever sold in the Garden State.

Inspired by Somerset Development, the same team of Bell Works in Holmdel recently launched sales at Lido, an eight-story condo with 112 residences and 50,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor amenities.
