Barbara Corcoran has sold her Upper East Side penthouse for $1.5 million over the asking price. The real estate pro and “Shark Tank” star first listed the home for $12 million in May. After reportedly finding a buyer in one day, the Central Park-facing co-op at 1158 Fifth Avenue closed this week for $13.5 million, as Realtor.com first reported.

Corcoran, founder of The Corcoran Group, paid $10 million for the 11-room apartment in 2015. She told the New York Times about first seeing the penthouse in 1992 when she was delivering letters for a messaging service and asked the owner to let her know if the home was ever for sale. She received a call 20 years later.
The impressive apartment is the result of an 18-month, $2 million gut renovation, overseen by Corcoran and her husband Bill Higgins. As 6sqft previously reported, the project included flipping the upstairs and the downstairs floor plans, turning the solarium into a dining room, and adding a chef’s kitchen next to the terrace.

The top level has a beautiful glass solarium and a dining area next to the kitchen, which is equipped with a butcher block center island, stone countertops, and high-end appliances. The huge landscaped terrace has picture-perfect views, mature plantings, and plenty of places to sit and enjoy the space.
According to Realtor.com, Corcoran had to sell the home because the stairs were difficult for her husband to navigate. She has since bought a penthouse nearby that is just one level.
