Inter Miami fans have made their feelings clear on Luis Suarez after Lionel Messi led their side to a 4-0 win over Nashville in the MLS Playoffs. The ex-Uruguay international was absent through suspension as the Herons booked a place in the Eastern Conference semi-finals for the first time in club history.

Javier Mascherano‘s side were dealt a blow in the days leading up to the pivotal Game Three meeting with Nashville, with Suarez receiving a retrospective ban for a kick. The coach reacted by naming 19-year-old Argentine sensation Mateo Silvetti in the XI, and the youngster recorded an assist for his captain.

Silvetti showed good quality for Inter Miami in the game, and his display has led the fans to believe that they can do without Suarez. A section of the club’s fans have taken to X to share their thoughts on the situation, following their win.

Now 38 years old, Luis Suarez has been far from his prolific self for Inter Miami this season. The striker has managed 17 goals and 17 assists in 48 appearances across all competitions for the Herons, but is set to reach the end of his contract with the club next month.

Lionel Messi inspires Inter Miami to victory over Nashville

Lionel Messi led Inter Miami to the semi-finals of the Eastern Conference after their 4-0 win over Nashville in Game Three of the playoffs. The 38-year-old scored twice and provided an assist for the Herons as they claimed a 2-1 series win over their rivals.

Argentina captain Lionel Messi opened the scoring for his side after ten minutes with a fine strike from outside the box following a mazy run. The former Barcelona man doubled his side’s lead in the 39th minute, as he swept home a pinpoint cutback from Mateo Silvetti.

Tadeo Allende added a third for Javier Mascherano’s side in the 73rd minute as he finished off a low cross from Jordi Alba from inside the box. The Argentine forward completed his brace three minutes later as he pulled off an exquisite chip after being sent through on goal by Messi.

Lionel Messi became the first player to register 400 career assists in the game as his side progressed in the playoffs. They will now face FC Cincinnati for a place in the Eastern Conference final, with the series starting in two weeks’ time.
