LeSean McCoy puts Jalen Hurts’ Eagles future in jeopardy amid locker room tension with A.J. Brown

Retired two-time Super Bowl champion LeSean McCoy has raised questions about Jalen Hurts’ future with the Philadelphia Eagles.

On Friday’s episode of the “Speakeasy” show, he expressed his doubts about whether the Eagles would extend Jalen Hurts’ contract amid reports of locker room tension with players and coaches. The quarterback is currently in the middle of his five-year $255 million extension he signed in April 2023.

“So hwne it comes to the team’s success, yeah, I get some of that,” McCoy said. “But when it comes down to a contract, is he going to be here? … Well, do you pay him again because he ain’t really do his job?

“You think he gets paid again at Philadephia? I don’t know dawg. … I’m gonna be honest. Yeah we won (the Super Bowl) last year because the running back (Saquon Barkley) had like 2,500 yards. Like hello? The defense was nice. … So as much as you give him all the credit, and I ain’t mad. He deserves credit. Jalen Hurts is a really good quarterback. But it’s funny how you leave out 2,500 yards as a RB with a really good defense.”

This season, Hurts has helped his team to an 8-2 record heading into the Week 12 showdown against the Dallas Cowboys. Despite this, Diana Russini and Derrick Gunn reported that some coaches and players in the locker room are unhappy with the quarterback because he tends to stray away from the game plan.

Hurts has also reportedly come under fire for not throwing the ball often down the field during tight windows and taking the safe route. He is also allegedly involved in a feud with WR A.J. Brown, who has just 457 yards and three touchdowns receiving in 38 receptions.

Ex-NFL QB defends Jalen Hurts amid reports of locker room trouble

On Thursday, on ESPN’s “Get Up”, ex-Lions QB Dan Orlovsky defended Hurts amid the constant criticism he’s been receiving this season. He also highlighted the quarterback’s success with the team over the past few seasons.

“What’s going on with Hurts is so disingenious and disrespectful to Jalen Hurts, and I’m not the biggest Jalen Hurts fan,” Orlovsky said. “All this dude is literally everything that everybody begs every other quarterback to do or knocks them for not doing. This dude is 51-14 since 2022. He’s been to two Super Bowls. He’s won one. He’s been the MVP essentially in both. He was the MVP of the Super Bowl last year.”

“All he does is win. He’s obsessed with football and winning and doing what’s best for the team.”

This Sunday, the Eagles are scheduled to face the Cowboys (4-5-1) at 4:25 p.m. ET.
