It’s no secret millennials love a throwback. From “I Know What You Did Last Summer” to “Freakier Friday” and “Devil Wears Prada 2,” movie reboots of late ‘90s and early aughts classics abound. But those who miss the 1997 Nickelodeon slapstick comedy “Good Burger” can go a step further than just hoping for a remake — they can share a burger with Kel Mitchell. Kel’s Burger Fest, hosted by Bucketlisters, is coming to Williamsburg on August 30.

The movie “Good Burger” was a spinoff of a skit by the same name on the Nickelodeon kids’ sketch comedy show “All That,” starring Mitchell and current “SNL” star Kenan Thompson. In 2019, Mitchell actually welcomed people to Good Burger — home of the Good Burger — with a pop-up restaurant in Los Angeles. Complete with “All That” logos on the wall (the show on which Good Burger was born), the restaurant served Good Burgers, chicken sandwiches, and chicken strips by Eggslut’s chef, Alvin Cailan, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
This time, the burgers will come from a multitude of chefs — but hopefully, all will be good. The food festival will take place at BK Backyard Bar (151 Banker Street) and feature a lineup of burger vendors handpicked by Mitchell himself from New York City and beyond, a release states.
The lineup includes: Next Stop Vegan, Oh Boy, Lacey Burger, and Bear Burgers from NYC, as well as Los Angeles’ Fat Sal’s. “Each vendor will be slinging their most over-the-top, must-try creations — from juicy smashburgers and vegan stacks to outrageous, Instagrammable bites,” the release says.
“Kel has become a dear friend since I collaborated with him back in 2019 on his Good Burger pop-up restaurant in Los Angeles. We’re beyond thrilled to bring this new experience to life with him, there was no better dude to create a nostalgia fueled food summit with,” Bucket Listers President of Experiences Derek Berry said.
Aside from food, there will be throwback DJ sets, an “epic” ‘90s dance battle, trivia, a video arcade game lounge, a vintage flea market, carnival games, rides, and more. And, there will be an orange soda fountain chugging contest (IYKYK).
“This is more than a food festival—it’s a full-on burger bonanza,” Mitchell said in the release. “Can I take your order?”
The festival is sponsored by Bilt, and tickets, starting at $33, are available through Bucket Listers. There are three time slots (11 a.m., 2:45 p.m., and 6 p.m.) and different ticket tiers, including a VIP meet-and-greet.
