NY Rangers Game 55: Rangers at Columbus

The Rangers just can’t get out of their own way. They had a gimme game last night against the Penguins, but blew that one by no-showing the first two periods. Now they face a team ahead of them in the standings without Igor Shesterkin. This season is as gone as it can get, and even that hope in January had faded fast. The Rangers, at this point, are what they are. An infuriating team that is collectively worse than the sum of their parts.

Columbus is riding vibes right now as they continue to stay in the playoff picture. They are currently one point behind Detroit (though Detroit has a game in hand) for the final spot, and four points ahead of the Rangers for the first team out. Say what we want about four point swing games, the Rangers needed the win last night for this to matter more. Such is the story of the 2024-2025 New York Rangers.
