NY Rangers Game 71: Thank you, Sam

When I think about Sam Rosen and what he’s meant to me, it’s difficult to put into words. Sam has been the voice of the Rangers for over 40 years, and I am turning 41 next week. Sam has been the voice of the Rangers for my entire life. It’s all I know. It’s one of the few constants in my life. Every night, turning on a Ranger game and hearing him call the game hasn’t just been routine, it’s been one of the highlights of my Rangers fandom.

Sam had the perfect balance of calling a game, emotion, insight, and the occasional calling out of the team. His call of the 1994 Stanley Cup will be burned into my brain forever, and it still brings a smile to my face. His overtime call of the Artemi Panarin series winner, for some reason, also sticks out in my mind.

Sam is impossible to replace. His voice will forever be a lasting memory of mine. He deserves all the accolades he receives today. Thank you, Sam, for everything. You will be missed.
