The estate of Jeff Paul Kreiner of Port St. Lucie, Fla., who died on May 30 at the age of 66, alleges that the off-Strip casino resort was negligent in providing adequate and safe accommodations at the property. The lawsuit claims that Tuscany Suites failed to conduct a requested welfare check on Kreiner, who had allegedly earlier told resort staff that he was diabetic and had mobility issues.

Kreiner had traveled to Las Vegas for business. The lawsuit on his behalf, filed by his widow Patricia and several other family members, claims Kreiner informed hotel employees that he had fallen the day of his check-in and that he needed wheelchair assistance, which was provided. However, the complaint contends that the resort failed to conduct a welfare check that was later requested by a business associate.

Kreiner worked in television production for decades before retiring in 2012. He worked at ABC, CBS, and NBC, with his title being senior vice president of marketing at CBS when he called it a career a dozen years ago.

In retirement, he launched a podcast called “LMAO” and continued to occasionally assist on various media projects, with his last project requiring him to travel across the country to Southern Nevada.

Ailments Made Known

The Kreiner estate’s litigation claims that Tuscany Suites should have done more to protect its guests. A day after checking in on May 29, Kreiner was found alone and unresponsible by a housekeeper. Shortly thereafter, emergency medics declared him deceased.

The Clark County lawsuit claims casino staff were made known about Kreiner’s “rapidly deteriorating” condition but did little to ensure his safety. The lawsuit specifically states that the welfare check was “ignored and not acted upon” which put Kreiner “in a vulnerable, perilous condition with medical health issues.”

The filing seeks $50K in damages for the family’s mental pain, suffering, anguish, loss of companionship, support services, and attorney and funeral expenses. Tuscany Suites & Casino hasn’t yet responded to the complaint, nor has the resort commented publicly on the matter.

Tuscany Suites & Casino is located east of the Strip along Flamingo Rd. behind the Horseshoe. Opened in 2001, the casino space spans 60K square feet and has more than 600 slot machines, a dozen table games, and a Circa Sports sportsbook.

The all-suite hotel has over 700 guestrooms. The property is owned by CMH Real Estate Investments, an LLC based in Magnolia, Texas.

Online Fundraiser

While the odds might appear long that Tuscany will be held responsible for Kreiner’s death, his estate has already raised thousands of dollars through an online fundraiser on GoFundMe.

More than $18K has been raised for the “Join Jeff Kreiner’s Crew” fundraiser. The fundraiser, organized by George Schweitzer on behalf of Patricia Kreiner, set a goal of raising $100K.
