In last week’s poll, the Honor Magic8 Pro rose up while the vanilla Magic8 went on a downwards trajectory. While the two phones share a lot of hardware, the more capable camera of the Pro model is giving it a serious advantage.
Honor Magic8 and Magic8 Pro
The Honor Magic8 Pro scored highly in the poll and the numbers can improve with solid reviews. Some are still wondering whether the camera improvements are as big as Honor claims.
One in ten voters is planning on holding off until the Ultra model is announced in the next few months. For the majority, though, the Pro model strikes the right balance between price and performance.
In terms of criticism, would-be buyers from some regions are miffed that they will lose so much battery capacity – the Euro model is 970mAh short of the Chinese model! – and some have had bad experiences with MagicOS in the past.
The Honor Magic8 received less attention overall and, worse, it got much less positive attention. It will lose some sales to the rumored Magic8 Mini, but more voters are interested in the larger Pro model instead.
There are those looking at other brands, of course. Competing models in the Oppo Find X9 series and the vivo X300 series have already set the date for their global release, while the Xiaomi 17 series and the Honor Magic8 series itself are yet to confirm details on the worldwide release date and pricing.
Last year, the Honor Magic7 Pro was announced at the end of October and launched in China a week later. However, that model wouldn’t become available in Europe until mid-January this year, so if you’re into the Magic8 Pro and you live in Europe, you might want to settle in for the wait.
