Flavors from around the world will converge on Times Square next month. For the first time since 2019, the Times Square Alliance will host Taste of Times Square, an outdoor food and music festival featuring over 25 restaurants with diverse cuisines. To bring side-street restaurants to the heart of the bustling district, the festival will be set up at Broadway Plaza and Duffy Square between 45th and 48th Streets. The event takes place on Monday, September 9 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Participating restaurants include a mix of classic chain restaurants the neighborhood is known for and local favorites. Participants include Applebee’s Grill & Bar, Barbetta, Blue Fin, Brooklyn Chop House Times Square, Burger & Lobster, Dim Sum Palace, Ellen’s Stardust Diner, Hard Rock Café New York, Havana Central, Jasmine’s Caribbean Cuisine, Junior’s Restaurant, The Lamb’s Club, Lille’s Victorian Establishment, and more.
Attendees can purchase food at the event by registering their credit or debit card with a wristband. All food items will be priced under $10, with most offerings ranging from $3 to $6.
“Now in its 27th year, we’re thrilled to bring back one of Times Square’s favorite annual traditions and put a spotlight on our individual restaurants and chefs who make up the diverse fabric of the Crossroads of the World,” Tom Harris, president of the Times Square Alliance, said.
“With over 200 restaurants and eateries representing over 30 global cuisines, Times Square’s dining scene is certainly an international experience and over the past several years we’ve seen so many new restaurants open in the district. This is the best way we can celebrate them and welcome them to Times Square.”
The festival will also feature live music, with the full entertainment lineup to be announced soon.
Times Square Alliance hosted a variation of the event in 2020 and 2021–Taste of Times Square Week–which featured prix-fixe menus at restaurants, and special outdoor dining areas with free live performances.
This year marks the first time since 2019 that the event will feature a full outdoor food and music festival, kicking off a month-long promotion celebrating the “happiest hour” with deals at various Broadway establishments after 8 p.m.
