Triple H and the WWE creative team booked Joe Hendry’s RAW debut in the form of a concert. The crowd connected with the former TNA World Champion just fine, but the lyrics to one section of his song just didn’t go down well.
He opened his concert by singing about signing to RAW and hoping the other brands would understand. However, he then called for Logan Paul to be fired, something Michael Cole sang along to as well.
Thanks for the submission!
The timing of the segment was tone deaf and tasteless
Just a few days ago, a number of WWE Superstars were released from their contracts, including the Motor City Machine Guns, Aleister Black, Zelina, and Kairi Sane, alongside several stars from LFG and NXT.
With so many people already losing their jobs right after WrestleMania 42, it was an awful move on WWE’s part for Hendry to call for Paul to be fired as well. The Vision member marched down to the ring, screaming that he was ‘unfirable,’ something that the superstars who were just released cannot say.
The segment could have worked had there not been so many sudden releases
Joe Hendry’s character has a great sense of humor, and he has entertained fans with it during his time in TNA and NXT. The segment could have worked just fine on the Monday Night Show if so many people hadn’t lost their jobs on Friday.
Fans have been clamoring and campaigning for Kairi Sane to return to the Stamford-based promotion after she was let go in the middle of a storyline with IYO SKY and Asuka. However, the timing of the segment was terrible, and it should have been swapped for something else – even insulting Logan Paul would have worked.
There were loud ‘We Want Kairi’ chants on WWE RAW
In almost the same manner as the “We Want Truth” movement last summer, fans have started to make their voices heard when it comes to Kairi Sane. The former tag team champion was shockingly released in the middle of a storyline, and fans were quite vocal about wanting her to return on RAW.
Having a pure babyface sing about firing another superstar at the same show just doesn’t come off well for either party, and it could have been easily swapped in favor of another similar insult.
